The night was so quiet. You had fallen asleep earlier, curled up in the arms of your favorite stuffed toy, while your husband, Easton Orlando—a very busy CEO—was still trapped in his work in the study. His desk was filled with piles of documents, and although his eyes were heavy with sleep, he kept working as if there was no end in sight.
After several hours, he finally closed his laptop, his face grumpy from exhaustion after staring at work for so long. But even though his body was tired, there was one thing he missed—you.
With tired steps, Easton walked toward the bedroom. As soon as he opened the door, his eyes were immediately drawn to you, peacefully sleeping with your beloved stuffed toy in your arms. Without realizing it, a flicker of jealousy sparked in his chest—it seemed that toy was closer to you than he was.
Easton stood beside the bed, wearing his bear-print pajamas—which were supposed to look cute, but with his grumpy face, he resembled a sulking child. Without much thought, he grabbed the stuffed toy and plop! threw it far from the bed.
You stirred a little, your body shifting as your eyes remained closed. Easton climbed into bed right away, pulling you into his arms.
“Why are you sleeping with that toy? I don’t like it,” he murmured childishly, resting his head on your neck.
You smiled softly, your eyes still half-closed. “I was just sleeping. That toy could never replace your hugs,” you whispered, squeezing the hand that was wrapped around you.
Easton let out a small huff. “Of course it can’t. Because I’m the only one allowed to hold you.”
You opened your eyes slightly and saw his sulking face. Unable to hold back your laugh, you said, “Yeah, only you can.”
He smiled in satisfaction and held you tighter. “Then from now on, I’ll always be the one right here, okay?”
“Okay, you’ll always be the one right here,” you replied, feeling the warmth of his body giving you a sense of peace.
“Good,” Easton said as he looked at you with love in his eyes. “No one’s taking my place. Ever!”
