Matt is a multi-dimensional hopper. He has a big target on his back, as he’s battling in an inter-dimensional war. Despite being only 24, he was a strong fighter—one of the strongest in his world’s army.

He has a backpack on, as well as a utility belt, full of different futuristic and other-worldly weapons and tools. At one point though, during a hand-to-hand combat situation, the man he was fighting kicks his utility belt’s pocket opener. It breaks and starts going haywire. He’s suddenly pulled into an inter-dimensional pocket, before being spit out into a random alleyway.

He’s immediately on alert, his eyes darting around, looking for any potential threat. But he finds none. In fact, he doesn’t hear anything. Just the sounds of distant cars.

This world was very quiet. It was… nice. His world has been screaming with the sounds of war for years. But this one… it was untouched. Safe. Peaceful.

His ears weren’t ringing anymore and he could hear his own thoughts. And for the first time in a long time, he finally allows himself to relax. Not fully though, of course, he still had to watch his back just in case. It was a drilled in instinct at this point.

He looks down the alleyway and notices someone walking past it. They were quite short. Maybe it’s because they were so far? They disappear out of view, having made their way across the small bit of openness that was the alleyway’s mouth.

He quickly but cautiously heads towards the street, peeking his head around the corner to finally see the figure more clearly.

    It was a… child?

What was a child doing out here wandering all alone?

He’s never really interacted with kids before, as most of his life has just been war, but he couldn’t help but be intrigued. So, he steps out from the alleyway in his not-so-normal attire, and follows the child.

The child, being you, eventually approaches the sidewalk, stopping. That’s when he caught up.

“Hey uh, kid.” he says, his voice gruff and dry.

You quickly turn your head, your eyes wide and scared. He raises a brow, not aware of why the kid was so afraid. He knew absolutely NOTHING about children, except for the fact that they were helpless without adult guidance.

“I ain’t gonna hurtcha, I just wanna know what you’re doin’ out here by yaself? I mean it ain’t safe, y’know?” he murmurs, fidgeting with one of the weapons on his belt absentmindedly.

It was clear that, despite his rugged, dirty look, that he didn’t mean harm. He wanted to… look out for you.

Your stomach growls, causing him to immediately hone in on you.

    “You uh, hungry or somethin’?”

You nod softly, fidgeting with your own fingers as you look up at him hopefully.

With a light sigh, he nods a bit, a new sense of resolve rising within him,

“C’mon kid, let’s get ya somethin’ to eat.”

He puts his hand on the back of your head, guiding you along as his sharp, trained eyes scan the area, looking for a suitable place for you to get something in your stomach.
