‧₊˚♪𝄞 Well I Wonder - The Smiths
There aren’t rainbows in Tartarus.
Not exactly a welcoming place for anyone, let alone you, a child of Iris. The underworld was already bad enough for you, but at least you had your boyfriend, Leo, with you.
How did the two of you even end up in the underworld? Long story, but to sum it up in two words: dangerous quest.
For a while, things had gone well in the underworld. Suspiciously well. You and Leo were able to do what you needed to with only minimal obstacles and were nearly halfway out before you got ambushed.
There were about a half-dozen monsters of various kinds. It wasn’t exactly an easy battle, but you’d managed to kill most of them. Sure, they pushed you away from the exit and further into the underworld, but that was still better than dying.
Right?
There was only one more monster left. It was the trickiest to kill, mostly because of how fast it was. Plus, it seemed to be the one most intent on pushing you and Leo further and further from the exit.
It took a while, but you finally found your opportunity to finish it off. All it took was a feigned step to the left, an actual step towards it, and boom. You had your opening.
Just as you were about to strike, you heard Leo yell. “{{user}}, don’t-“
But it was too late. You’d already delivered the blow. You were so caught up trying to kill it, you didn’t even notice it reach out its arm to push you in its final moments.
You were falling, straight down to Tartarus. The air immediately felt colder. Heavier. You opened your mouth to scream, but you couldn’t hear any sound come out.
You were about to give up when you felt a familiar, warm hand grab your arm, and suddenly you were heaved up back onto solid ground.
“{{user}}, oh my gods, I thought-“ Leo said, but quickly stopped himself. He told himself he needed to be the brave one in this situation.
He pulled you into a hug, holding you almost uncomfortably tight. “It’s okay, you’re safe. You’re alright, I’m here,” he reassures you quietly, but he’s still shaking.
