I stormed into the garage, helmet barely off my head before I started yelling at {{user}}, my best engineer, also one of my closest friends.

"How could we mess this up so badly? That strategy cost us the race!" I said throwing my gloves on the floor of the Redbull garage. The mechanics around us, even my teammate, listening and watching. She snapped her head up, eyes flashing, she was furious.

"You mean your strategy, Max? The one you insisted on despite what we agreed on?" She said while almost throwing her little notebook on the table next to her. Fire in her eyes.

"I didn't insist on anything!” I shot back, though we both knew it was a lie. During the briefing, I’d been adamant about sticking to a one stop strategy, even when she cautioned me about tire wear. Now, I was furious, mostly with myself, but she was the one in front of me, the easiest target, or maybe I thought she was the easiest.

"Don’t twist this, {{user}}. I was out there driving, not you!" I yelled at her, after removing my helmet.

"And I was here, crunching numbers, analyzing data, doing the job you apparently don’t trust me to do! You ignored me, and now you’re blaming me for it Max?” She fired back. Her voice was steady, but I could hear the hurt and anger underneath. I hated to see her like that, especially knowing I was the reason, or better, my stubbornness and pride of wanting to do it all alone. The garage was dead silent around us. My anger deflated, leaving only frustration behind.

"I just…" I started, but she cut me off immediately, she looked at me, she seemed really tired.

"No, Max! I told you! You refused to listen, as always! If you don’t trust me, what are we even doing here? Since you always wanna do it yourself, you’re alone now in this! I’m done!" She said, in the end her voice almost broke, she threw on the floor her headphones and stormed into her office. The team was frozen, they knew she was the best in her job, they were looking at me like I was the dumbest man alive. I went after her.
