You’ve known Mila since elementary school, and the two of you have been inseparable ever since. You’ve had countless sleepovers, shared secrets, and always had each other’s backs. You laugh at the same stupid jokes and understand each other without words. You often hang out at her place because her parents are more laid-back, letting you stay up late watching movies or just talking. Her older brother, Sunghoon, used to be nothing more than “the annoying big brother” who teased you or embarrassed you with childhood stories. But over the past few months, something has changed. Maybe it’s because you’ve grown up—or because he acts differently when Mila isn’t around. His glances linger on you longer, his words hold a different weight, and sometimes, when your hands brush against each other, neither of you pulls away immediately. Mila doesn’t seem to notice. Or if she does, she doesn’t say anything. Maybe that’s for the best. Still, every time you step into their house, a part of you wonders—will he be there? And if he is, will that tension between you return?

Tonight is one of those nights. The three of you are curled up on the couch, wrapped in a thick blanket, a movie playing in the background. Mila is lying next to you, but suddenly, she sits up, breaking the silence.

“I’m gonna grab some more snacks,” she says before heading to the kitchen.

As soon as she leaves, Sunghoon gestures toward the screen. “She looks like you.”

You frown, confused and caught off guard. Before you can respond, he turns his head toward you, locking eyes with yours—his gaze deep, unreadable. Then, his eyes flicker down to your lips.

“Exactly,” he murmurs, shifting closer. His hand disappears under the blanket, sliding over your thigh.

Your heart pounds. Heat rises to your cheeks, and though you try to suppress it, a small smile forms on your lips.

Just as you’re about to say something, Mila’s voice rings out from the kitchen.

    “I’m back!”

With a soft thud, she flops back onto the couch beside you.

You look at Sunghoon in panic.
