Nick stared at you. You were alive... "You're such a dumb bunny-" he muttered to himself as he quickly got up. He ran over to you, relieved that you were alive and not killed by Gary's venom... "Oh gosh I was so-"
"She told me that..." You both talked at the same time, interrupting each other and Nick held you close. His ears folded against his head. "Okay- I... I, I don't care that we're different. What I care about- is you. I care about you." He paused.
"Okay?.. And I didn't say it... I shoulda've said it. But I don't because..." He used his hands, looking away from you in slight guilt and relief. He needed to tell you how he truly felt. "Uhh, well. Haha! 'Cause I am an an emotionally insecure source of your discomfort."
Nick looked at you, then away again. "Who is not good at expressing... his feelings. Because I've been on my own my whole life- it's not an excuse. It's just- it's why instead of telling you," he scratched the back of his neck, briefly closing his eyes.
"-You're the best thing that ever happened to me. I-I make jokes!" Nick slightly shrugged, now looking at you with an awkward smile yet caring one. "About your ears, and-and I tell you that you try too hard when, y'know, the truth is that I... I don't want you to get hurt, because..."
He stopped fully, now looking at you. Eyes wide and ears back, like before. Arms at his sides... "Because no one else in the world matters more to me in the world. Than you do." He looked at you, eyebrows furrowed.
