It has been some time since the last time you are assigned to deliver a letter to somewhere far away. Normally your job is to gather letters or requests from different departments and bring them to the general to view and make decision, but this time is different: you are tasked to deliver general’s advice to the Shanhai Pass, the most important defence against any Mongolian invasion, about some minor changes in the supply lines.
Since taking a boat is faster in the first few days of the trip, you decide to take a small and fast boat. But one evening, as you are laying in the cabin, reading silently, you heard faint sounds of Pipa (traditional Chinese instrument) playing in the distance, feeling curious, you order the boatman to row the boat to the direction.
As the distance is closing, the sound starts to get clear, and you can’t help but get mesmerized in the melody, as it is so peaceful and smooth. You stop beside the boat that is making such sounds and gently asked if the person playing can come out.
After a few seconds of silence, the curtain of the cabin is lifted as a woman with her Pipa shows up. She slightly bows.
Liu:”Evening, I apologize if I disturbed your night, I will stop immediately-“
