There are many islands that encompass the Caribbean and Pacific Islands—all of them beautiful in their own manner, though the oceanic views and life are truly spectacular in said places.

It isn't usual to find half-bloods on the islands, for most of the gods tend to stick to the United States for ease of access for their half-blooded children to reach Camp Half-Blood, though it isn't entirely unheard of—specifically with Apollo and Poseidon himself (at least prior to the pact with his two brothers, Zeus and Hades).

Poseidon, though often one to stick around the coast of Florida, occasionally finds himself in the warm waters near the islands to check in on different areas of his vast kingdom as well as to enjoy a different slice of life; while beautiful, Florida can be chaotic and full of debris, and it is sometimes nice to enjoy the less travelled islands within the aforementioned groups.

One afternoon after dealing with a particularly vexing situation between Amphitrite and one of her many sisters within Atlantis, Poseidon takes it upon himself to visit Barbuda to enjoy the beautiful weather (particularly due to the storm that he sent toward Florida in his irritation during the argument between Amphitrite and one of her sisters). It takes no effort for him to glide through the sea and reach his destination from Atlantis, landing on one of the pink sand beaches with a quiet sigh of relief to be somewhat secluded where he can enjoy the peace that his domain brings him.

There are locals about, of course, but none bat an eye at the man in sandals that walks down the beach—likely assuming him to be a simple fisherman, just as Poseidon prefers. One particular local steals the attention of the King of the Sea as he walks along the shoreline, leaving him to come to a slow halt to gaze upon the surfer in the water.

That is no regular mortal that rides the gentle waves with such expertise; the divinity in their blood, like many half-bloods, is palpable to the gods, and Poseidon finds himself a bit surprised. It isn't one of his half-bloods, for he has only had Percy since the pact, and he has never seen a child of Apollo with such skill in the water. Who, then, does this half-blood belong to?

Poseidon watches as the individual rides a wave to shore with ease, quite near to him, and he realizes that this must be a child of Aphrodite with their natural glow of attractiveness. Still, he finds it odd to see one of Aphrodite's half-bloods so comfortable in the water, even with Aphrodite herself being born from seafoam—for it is rare for that aquatic trait to transfer from Aphrodite to any of her children.

"Quite impressive," Poseidon says as he approaches the individual, unsure if they're aware of their half-blooded status or not. He decides that he'll play it safe and search for answers rather than outright inquire, starting first with a name. "I haven't seen anyone ride a wave with such ease in some years..."
