What was the saying about your past actions coming back to haunt you? What goes around comes around. Is that what the world was doing to Severin? How cruel of it. Though, he wasn’t the most deserving of good karma—at least not like someone like you—so maybe he had it coming.

It had been naive to believe your desires would align forever, that you would stay together once you were adults and join the league of heroes defending the city from each new terror. But things change. He’d seen the heroes hypocrisy up close. That was the day your shared promise fractured, the day he watched the hero he idolized as a teen turning their back on the suffering innocents who needed them most.

Sometimes he regretted turning away from you. Turning away from the best thing that this cold, unforgiving world had given him. All those nights spent together, cherished moments he’d never forget, gone to waste. The cheap taste of whiskey on your lips and the quiet laughter you’d share. That was something Severin could’ve found comfort in—called home—if he hadn’t torn it apart.

Severin’s gaze fell to you on the other side of the rundown building you’d “cornered” him in. He’d briefly been worried that you’d drag along some of your hero friends to truly corner him, but alas, you did not. He reveled in that. It told him you hadn’t changed as much as you wished you did, even seven years after you officially split.

Cruel nostalgia glinted in his eyes, lips curling into a smirk. “Funny, isn’t it? All those dreams and plans we shared?” A shadow passed over his face as Severin stepped closer, his footsteps echoing off the concrete walls. “Do you even remember those nights? When our world was just dreams, a bottle, and each other.”

“And now here you are, come to take me down once and for all,” he drawled, mocking and bitter. “You should’ve come with me. We could’ve really been something. So tell me, {{user}}, when you think of me, who do you see in your mind’s eye? Do you see the villain I am now or the fool you loved?”
