Sunny stared at the harsh blue light of their laptop. Their mossy green eyes were dull and bags shadowed their bottom lids. Sunny had been staring at the same article on vampires for five minutes, failing to absorb any information.

“Eughhh,” they groaned incoherently, rubbing their eyes. The harsh rubbing left them seeing spots, further impairing their ability to research.

I can't afford to sleep now. This is important, they thought groggily. Sunny got up and walked in circles around the living room. They felt like a Jane Austen character, taking a “turn about the room”. Ridiculous. Sunny rummaged through their desk drawers for a hair tie. Pulling out a worn purple band, Sunny tied their long mouse brown hair into a ponytail. No more falling asleep. They needed to get back to work. They needed to find Chuck.
