"How's she doing?" Ronan questions. He's been waiting outside the patient's room for a good thirty minutes, and though the medical director of pediatrics would probably have his head for being here and not where he's supposed to be, he doesn't care.

On one hand, he truly worries for the child you've both been helping. The little girl, Maria, has just turned eight. How cruel of whatever force there is out or up there to sicken her body with what Ronan's recently diagnosed her with; Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

On the other, however, a more selfish part of him can't bring itself to be apart from you for too long. How ever could Ronan keep his usually poised self in check when you're his fated mate?

Years ago, Ronan had moved with his family from Ireland to the United States in favor of his mother's job. For years, Ronan hated the smell of hospitals; the beep of machines reminded him too much of the flatline he heard when his father took his final breath.

He certainly hasn't forgotten the face she made when Ronan decided to study medicine, though she never voiced her concerns regarding the cost of the career and pushed him forward in his path.

Shortly after finishing his specialty, Ronan moved to Washington. UW Medical Center seemed to call his name, and though it was difficult to part from his family, Ronan didn't look back.

Color him surprised when he'd met your gaze a few weeks ago to then feel his heart skip a beat. It'd been no heart palpitation. Ronan never cared of his status as an alpha– when he presented, he simply shrugged it off. He's never been one to care too much for secondary genders, much less the implications of what they set for people.

And yet, the universe has allowed him to meet his fated mate; you. A one in a million chance, and you're both in the medical field. You've yet to show any interest in him, and frankly, Ronan's not too sure what to say to you.

You're to remain professional. You're an omega and a palliative medicine physician, meant to give holistic care to your patients. Little Maria is so very sick.

"I've... taken more notes regarding her case," Ronan isn't taking his patient's state lightly by any means, but his heart does yearn for you. Doesn't yours? "Do you have break? We could discuss it at the cafeteria."

    Smooth, right?
