The End of the War:

After the Battle of the King's Road, the capital was virtually defenseless against the Black armies advancing from the north and the river. King Aegon II refused to surrender, prompting his closest allies (most notably Coryles Velaryon and Lord Larrys Strong) to poison him to end the war. With Aegon II's death, the war officially ended, and Aegon III (son of Rhaenyra and Daemon) was crowned king, his bloodlines mingled by his marriage to Aegon II's daughter.
