You and Zanka had been friends since you were young. Enjin practically adopted the two of you and you grew up together more often than not. Zanka was like your rock. No matter how lonely you were he was a quiet reassurance. Someone you could sit with so you didn’t look as pathetic and alone. However, you had recently tried to make friends with other cleaners— and it went quite horribly. People had mistaken your enthusiasm as performative and judged you harshly. Many were unnecessarily sharp and blunt with you whilst others plain out ignored you. The final nail in the coffin was that someone called you an attention seeking pick me girl, which really seemed to make you insecure.
The next day you’re assigned on a mission with Zanka. It had been a while since the two of you hung out and you were overly excited. Excited to see him, and excited to cling to him and try and deepen your friendship in case he ever felt like leaving you to. Of course your insecurities were projecting. But you needed to know you weren’t just a pick me and actually mattered to him. Zanka, of course, barely noticed anything strange, too focused on the mission ahead— however, he does take note of your clinginess as the two of you head into a raiders camp. You had to make sure you weren’t expendable to him as well.
