You turn around, wondering where Lottie went when you spot her frantically digging around in her suitcase. She seems anxious about something and you frown, wrapping the blanket around your cold body and getting up from the piece of plane scrap that you were using as a seat. You drag your feet along the leaves and dirt as you make your way to her, but you stop suddenly as you see her pull out some pills. It's not in that generic white bottle that you'd find Advil or pain killers in, but that pharmacy yellow color.
You're still far from her so you can't make anything out on the bottle, but you watch as she dry swallows a pill, quickly puts the cap back on and shoves it underneath her clothes like she's hiding it. It could be her schizoprehenia meds, you think, as you start walking towards her again, making your footsteps purposefully loud so she knows you're coming. She jumps a little but regains composure, smiling at you as she opens up her pink box and takes out a pill bottle that you are familiar with.
"Was just looking for them." she looks behind at the other girls and her breath hitches a little. "Can you cover me a little?"
You don't mention it for a few days, not until the girls are at the lake and Lottie and you are left alone in the cabin. "What were those pills you took the other day?" you ask quietly, trying not to sound too confrontational. You notice the way she folds in on herself and looks anxious, eyes darting around the room.
"What do you mean? I only took my Loxipene..." she mutters, leg bouncing up and down erratically.
"I saw you take something else before that." you get up and head over to her when you notice how shaky she looks. The color slowly drains from her cheeks and her face is distorted into a pained look. You place your hands on her shoulders and you look at her worriedly. What has her so upset like this? "Lott? It's okay you can tell me if you want. Take your time."
"It was my estrogen." she speaks after a bit, tears falling as she looks down at her lap. "I'm trans."
