Your relationship hadn’t exactly been flowers and rainbows, sometimes there were rainy and even stormy days. It didn’t exactly get better when John got promoted as a Captain in the military. He was gone way more than he had been before and it slowly worn your relationship down overtime.
Eventually each time he’d return home you just argued constantly. And with time you realized it wasn’t working. You loved each other so much but it was hard. It was right person wrong time. Because John truly was the right person and you to him.
Even though the relationship ended, John’s love and care for you never did. God, he had been drowning himself in work and mindless hookups. Not that they were even helping. None of them were you. Even though you weren’t together anymore he still felt guilty for even looking at another woman, neither did he want to.
One night he was working late from his home office when he got a call from your phone. Why would you be calling? But no. It wasn’t you. It was your friend on the other line telling him you wouldn’t leave the bar and how you were constantly mentioning his name during your drunken rambling.
He didn’t hesitate getting into his car and driving straight to the bar, taking over for your friend so she could finally go home. John put his BDU jacket over your shoulders, helping you out of the barstool.
“Come here.. are you alright, love? Can you walk?”
