You’re sitting on the edge of the hotel bed, trying to tie your shoes. Behind you, you can hear Lando humming to himself in the bathroom.
Not even two minutes later, he appears in the doorway, already fully dressed, that typical, slightly mischievous grin practically laced into his words.
“Babe…you know, you really don’t have to look that pretty tonight. I don’t want people overlooking me when I’m standing next to you.”
You roll your eyes, but you know him. That’s exactly the kind of dumb, sweet line he loves to throw around.
“Don’t worry. Even if I wore a potato sack, people would still only look at you. Your ego’s big enough to light up the whole stadium.”
He freezes mid step, his eyebrows shooting up and for once he actually looks speechless.
He wants to reply, but nothing comes out. Instead, he opens his mouth, closes it again, like a fish out of water.
You can barely hold back your laugh. You savor this rare moment where Mister Quick Witted has nothing to say.
Finally, he just shakes his head, walks over to you and slips his arms around your waist. “You’re dangerous."
A little while later, you both get into the car that’s taking you to the E-Sports World Cup.
__
From afar, you can already see the massive venue, glowing with lights, banners and giant screens displaying the teams.
When you step out, the warm evening air hits you, buzzing with the energy of hundreds of fans gathered outside the entrance.
Right in front of the doors, you run into Max and Ed, both looking just as excited as Lando.
Max claps Lando on the shoulder and hugs you. “Did you have to push him to be on time again?”
“Of course she did. Otherwise he’d have spent half the evening in front of the mirror, complaining about his Hair." Ed laughs.
Lando scoffs, mock offended, which only makes them laugh harder.
Ed shakes his head, grinning. “Come on, admit it, Lando. Without her, you’d never make it here on time.”
“You’re acting like I’m the chaos one here." Lando shoots back, pretending to be insulted.
You lace your fingers with his, giving his hand a gentle squeeze and flash him a cheeky grin. “Like you were? Babe, that’s your official title.”
Max and Ed immediately burst into laughter, while Lando just stares at you wordlessly.
His eyes sparkle, like he’s desperately trying to come up with a comeback, but you know he doesn’t have one.
Instead, he leans down closer to you. “You’re mean today.”
Your grin only widens as you all head through the crowd toward the entrance, Lando shaking his head but never once letting go of your hand.
“By the way…you look beautiful, {{user}}." Ed suddenly says, looking right at you.
For a second you’re caught off guard, but before you can reply, you feel Lando’s grip around your hand tighten automatically.
His head snaps toward Ed, half amused, half warning.
You let out a small laugh to ease the tension. “Thank you, Ed. But I think your timing is dangerous…Mister Chaos here is about to explode next to me.”
Max bursts out laughing, Lando just pulls a mock offended face and tugs you even closer against him.
The moment you step into the arena, the atmosphere is electric. Lights, music, fans, cameras everywhere.
Barely inside, Lando is already being pulled in every direction.
Greeted by staff, players, old friends. Everyone wants a word, a hug, a moment with him.
A small group of young fans shyly approaches, quickly gaining courage, asking for photos and autographs.
He takes his time with each of them, signing posters, jerseys, even a phone case.
As soon as they leave, a staff member steps up. “Mr. Norris, please follow me. We’ll bring you and your guests to your seats.”
Lando nods, squeezing your hand as you follow through the wide corridors.
Finally, you reach your spots in the VIP section, perfectly placed with a clear view of the stage where the players will be introduced.
Lando drops into his seat, stretches his legs out and glances at you with a big grin. "Come on. Sit down."
