You notice it as he’s fidgeting with his gloves before the race.

“Esteban! What is that?” You ask him confused and point to his Hand.

"What?" He acts innocent, but can't hide a grin.

You grab his wrist before he can pull his glove on. Your eyes lock onto the tiny, fresh tattoo on his thumb.

Your initial.

Inked in small, delicate lettering.

He follows your gaze while his grin got wider, like he has been waiting for you to notice.

“A tattoo" He says like nothing is wrong while he shrugs his shoulders.

"A tattoo?! Are you serious?" You stare at him in disbelief. "And you say that like it's nothing?"

"Really serious." He says, grinning.

"Esteban, this is insane. This is permanent!" You shake your head and hold his hand while you trace over the ink with your thumb.

"Yeah, I know how tattoos work, baby." He chuckles, but his expression is gentle.

"But why?" You ask him, shocked.

"Well...you gave me the bracelet, and I wanted to wear it to every race, but...you know...those damn FIA rules. They don't allow it." He shrugs again. "So I decided to get a tattoo."

"You tattooed my initial on your hand!" You laugh and shake your head. "You could have just...I don't know, left the bracelet in your bag!" You say.

“Yeah, but I want you always with me. And on this way, you are. No rules against tattoos.” His smirk softens into something more sincere.

"Esteban. You didn't have to do that." You whisper, overwhelmed.

"But I wanted to." His voice is softer now. "I love you. And I want to spend my whole life with you by my side."

You bite your lip and feel warmth spreading through you.

He shrugs. "And I mean, it's small. No big deal, baby."

You laugh and shake your head. "No big deal?"

You want to tell him he's ridiculous.

That he's impossible.

But instead, you just squeeze his hand. "You’re unbelievable." You whisper.

"Admit it. You love it." He chuckles.
