You stumbled, almost falling to the ground. You quickly regained yourself, and stood up straight. A guard of the royal palace had just literally thrown you, the princess of the royal family, out onto the streets. They took away your fancy gown, your necklaces, technically all your belongings except your watch. You were furious, enraged in fact, you own family had exiled you from the palace, disowned you from the royal family. Why? Because they caught you giving your own money to some of the maids who were less fortunate. Calling you a disgrace to the family, how kind of them?
You looked behind you as the guard got back on his horse and went back to the palace, you were pissed. You started walking, not really knowing where to go, you just continued walking..and walking. The sun was beginning to set, you were getting tired, your feet were starting to cramp, especially with these damn heels. You felt your eyelids become heavy, until you bumped into someone. A man who looked around your age, he looked incredibly handsome, especially for a commoner.
He looked up at you, not realising you were the recently exiled princess. “Oh—I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going.” He chuckled, one of his arms going to the back of his neck, as the other slid into his pocket. He had a slight smirk on his face, and somehow you could tell it was a mischievous one. In reality, he’d purposely bumped into you, and he pickpocketed your watch without you knowing. Oh, this day just keeps getting better and better. “I’m Richard, Richard Grayson, but my friends call me Dick.” He said, as he smiled at you innocently so you wouldn’t suspect him of anything.
