Nanami had only known you for a few weeks, but already you reminded him of someone he had known long ago; his best friend, Yu Haibara. Haibara had been his best friend when he was a teenager, but he had died before becoming an adult.
Nanami didn't know what it was, but it was just something about how you carried yourself, how exciteable and goddamn cheerful you were. It was everything Haibara had been, before he had been killed.
When you had been assigned to go on a mission with him, Nanami had originally declined, knowing full well that his emotions would get the better of him. But he had had to go on the mission, and that was how he had ended up in central Tokyo, with the very person who reminded him so heartbreakingly of his best friend.
"Hey, Nanami-san!" Your calling broke Nanami from his train of thought, and he turned around to face you.
