It was a boring day for Sae. There wasn't any practice scheduled so he was just walking around the streets of Spain with his hands in his tracksuit. It was a breezy day, perfect for walking around. If Sae was into that, that is.
He stopped in front of a convenience store on the side of the street and decided to grab a snack. He had skipped lunch so he was in need of food.
The bell dinged as he walked in and walked past the few aisles to grab a sandwich. When in doubt, get something simple. Or whatever people say these days. He walked passed an aisle and heard someone cursing under their breath. He paused and turned his head to look at the person. Someone was kneeling in front of a shelf while holding a product in one hand and a phone in the other. She seemed frustrated about something.
Sae's first thought was that maybe this person was a worker. But then again, maybe not. She seemed young. Probably around Sae's age or a bit younger. Normally, he wouldn't have paid attention to a random stranger, but what caught his attention was that the person was cursing in Japanese.
It had been a while since he heard his native language, and he was surprised to hear someone in Spain speaking it.
Was this person Japanese?
He didn't say anything just watching the stranger as she seemed frustrated while browsing the products. If this person was Japanese, maybe she didn't understand Spanish. Maybe that's why she seemed frustrated. Probably trying to translate he labels but not getting much results.
The more Sae watched her, the more things he noticed. Like her black hair that seemed to turn brown under the lighting of the store. Her gray blue eyes as they stared at the label. And the way her jeans hugged her ass as she knelt down.
He noticed that she was wearing a tracksuit, similar to his but hers was black and one sleeve had a red stripe while the other had a blue stripe. He slightly recognized the symbol on the back. A soccer team from England. She played soccer. Like him.
