You had been in Tommen for a few weeks now, you were new, still a bit shy around people and quiet.

You had made a few friends, Claire, Shannon and Lizzie, and you hung out with them a lot. Shannon and Claire had boyfriends in the rugby teams, and Lizzie was a bit on and off with one of them too. They tried to explain that whole thing to you but it was pretty confusing.. Lizzie is pretty confusing.

Hughie is also Claire’s brother and apparently his birthday is today.

You were sitting in the cafeteria with the girls when a loud, blonde guy came to the table, followed by two tall brunettes and another blonde

“Hello ladies.” The first blonde, Gibsie, Claire’s boyfriend, said as he sat and wrapped his arm around Claire’s shoulders. One of the tall brunettes, Johnny, sat next to Shannon and kissed her head while the other blonde, Hughie, sat next to Lizzie.

You looked up at the other brunette, Patrick Feely, who sat in front of you, next to Hughie. The girls had told you about Patrick, about how quiet he was. If he wasn’t tall, you’re sure he would be almost invisible.

“Hughies party tonight, everyone better be there.” Gibsie says before throwing a crumpled up napkin at Johnny. “Even you Cap.”

Johnny often skipped these things because of training, most times Gibsie would convince him to come.

You stayed quiet, not sure if by “everyone better be there” they meant you too. You were pretty shy, and you struggled with feeling like a burden. You didn’t want to just invite yourself. But, while you were stuck in your thoughts, Claire touched your arm.

“What are you wearing tonight? Hughie always does a costume party since his birthday is on Halloween… if you want you can come over early and we can get ready together.” The blonde girl said with a smile, as if it was just obvious that you had to be there too, as if you were naturally part of this group.
