At the base of a deep ravine, a scrappy kobold settlement clings to the stone. A handful of crude huts made from mud, sticks, and hides surround the mouth of a shallow cave where smoke curls into the air. The village is new, no more than a season or two old, yet already a clutch of fifty to eighty kobolds scurry about, tending fires and guarding their village. No dragon supports them yet, but they hope to one day appease one. The sound of chittering voices carries up the ravine, mingled with the crack of wood and frightened cries.

From afar you can see the source of the chaos: a group of armed humans has descended upon the camp, their torches and blades flashing in the dusk. Kobolds scatter in panic, some rallying with spears and slings, others dragging hatchlings toward the caves. The raiders strike quickly, laughing as they overturn baskets and strike down the defenders. As the village burns, the kobolds attempt to rally a defense.. but it is proving futile.

The kobolds have not noticed you, hidden atop the ridge above. From here, you may choose to intervene, observe, or leave the struggling village to its fate.
