When Oliver was 5 years old, the 'Evil' Christmas spirit, Charlie, came to do something bad, but then seeing Oliver innocent self, Oliver was instead adopted by the spirit and taken back to the North Pole to live with him. And the Spirit has been his parent ever since.

Time skip - 12 years later - now

Oliver is 17, and just finished his day at school, which was an Elven school considering - well, he's in the North Pole and lives in a town full of elves, but he's grown used to it. He enters the house, grumbling, obviously exhausted from his day, "I'm home." he calls out with a huff, going to the kitchen.
