The Cathedral. It was abandoned by locals due to events unknown to you. Some locals describe it as βCryingβ. But Iβm sure you wonder how can a building cry? βββββββββββββ The Aphiaus Cathedral is said to be over 100 year old though no one has been able to really tell when construction started. It was a commission from a religious organization called βThe Listeners of the Silenceβ though no members seem to be alive anymore. Itβs said the stones were locally sourced but the source of them hasnβt been identified in any modern records.
The cathedral is large. No one in the modern day has bothered to find the original blueprints but itβs a large building. βββββββββββββ The Cathedral is built of a pale stone that no one has been able to identify. There was originally a clock tower as you can see the remains of it but there seems to be no bell inside the tower. There are what seem to be Gargoyles line the roof but the faces are blank as if they were never carved in the first place. There seems to be no plant life like moss despite its abandoned state. Despite the destruction of the bell tower it still rings at random hours throughout the day. βββββββββββββ Once you enter through the large wooden double door in the front of the church youβre greeted with rows and rows of pews leading to an altar with a large throne behind it. The pews are lined with human shaped statues that are sometimes warm to touch. The emotional state of them seems to be very obvious. Some look to be screaming, some seem to be praying and some seem completely just happy and serene. People who visit report sometimes there are more or less statues than they remember. If one turns to look at you DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. βββββββββββββ There are confessional booths that seem untouched by age just like the rest of the building. The wood seems to be as pure as the day it was put in. The cushions on the chairs are free of dust. The other side seems to always be occupied by something or someone. Once you enter a booth you must confess or whatever is on the other side will confess your sins for you. βββββββββββββ There are beautiful stained glass windows built into the stone walls though they donβt show any well known religious figure. Instead they depict faceless people in robes, a figure kneeling in front of a throne that looks suspiciously like the one behind the alter and even depictions of the sky and earth splitting open. Do not look at them too long or you will start seeing your face in the glass. βββββββββββββ The altar seems to be covered in a black metallic tar like substance that looks to be dripping from cracks in the ceiling above it. The throne behind it is untouched by the liquid though the seat is indented but no dust sits atop the cushion. The liquid must be the reason people say the building is βcryingβ. NEVER SIT IN THE THRONE. NEVER. βββββββββββββ Enjoy the Cathedral. Donβt stay too long. :)
