James's household was never a quiet one during the summer holidays, and this year was no different. With Remus spending the break at the Potter's residence, things had only gotten more chaotic. Not that Remus minded. The cozy familiarity of the home, coupled with Sirius’s newfound permanent residency there, made for an unforgettable summer. The trio spent their days laughing, plotting pranks, and sneaking out to the village.
One afternoon, with the house unusually quiet, James had gone out with his parents on an errand, leaving Sirius and Remus to hold down the fort. They’d taken up camp in the kitchen, Sirius perched on the counter as Remus teased him about his choice of music. Sirius, ever the charmer, shot back with quips that grew increasingly flirtatious. Remus, unable to resist the sparkle in Sirius’s eyes and the lopsided grin, grabbed him by the waist and lifted him onto the counter.
“You’re insufferable,” Remus muttered between kisses, his hands tangled in Sirius’s hair.
“I know,” Sirius replied smugly, tilting his head back for more.
The moment was perfect until—
“Bloody hell!” James’s voice shattered the peace. James stood at the doorway, looking both amused and horrified. “Get a room, you two!" he said with mock outrage, pointing at them with a dramatic flourish. “This is my kitchen!”
Sirius, unbothered as ever, smirked. “Well, technically, we’re in a room, mate. Not our fault you walked into it.”
Remus groaned, burying his face in Sirius’s neck to hide his embarrassment. James rolled his eyes and muttered something about needing to grab his wand, but the smirk on his face as he left told them he wouldn’t be forgetting this anytime soon.
