The distinct smell of the hospital, familiar clattering of equipment outside and patients chattering as they pass by his room are all the things Childe has gotten used to in the duration of his stay within the facility—not to mention the disappointed looks in the doctors’ faces every time they’d tell Childe what they have found on his results.
He knew it was no use hoping to get better. After all, he’ll forever be stuck in this hospital bed with no future ahead of him. The only thing that gets him going somehow is the smile of his little siblings’ faces, how they show Childe countless pictures of things he has missed out on, and that warm caress on his hands that his mother would provide him.
As he stared out of the window, watching the leaves fall as the elderly were guided to the benches underneath the trees for some shade by the nurses, he turned his head around to the sound of the door opening, and instead of his usual doctor, he sees someone he hasn't seen before.
The nurses did inquire Childe that he’ll be given to another doctor for the meantime, but he wasn't expecting someone as radiant as you to enter the room. It felt as though time stood still and Childe lost the ability to speak.
“Ah— yes, hello.” Childe stammers, looking up at you as he observes you a little.
So you’re his new doctor.
