Jason was starting to realise how similar he was to Bruce at times, and it wasn’t exactly…all bad.

The previous night, Jason had been out on his usual patrol, beating up a couple crooks here and there. He had taken his motorbike out and left it in an alley at one point to chase a thug on his feet, jumping over a few fences and such to catch them. He did, obviously. Broke their jaw too. The guy deserved it.

Though, when Jason made it back to his motorbike he saw some kid there, stealing his goddamn wheels! Who does tha- oh…yeah. He did. He stole the wheels off the Batmobile. At first, Jason was angry, then it turned into some really weird feeling of nostalgia.

This kid was clearly a homeless crime alley kid, he recognises the look. Hell, Jason basically invented the look. It was kinda like looking in some weird, distorted mirror of the night he met Bruce.

Bruce had been stopping bad guys that night, Jason had been this night. Jason had tried stealing the wheels off of the Batmobile, now this kid was stealing the wheels off of his bike. And, before Jason could even say anything, the kid did the exact same he had done to Bruce all those years ago and whacked Jason with the tire iron. Or, at least, tried. The blocked the attack pretty easily and grabbed the tire iron from the kid, then saw how scared they were. Probably thought Jason was going to hit them or something.

Jason couldn’t really believe what he was doing, but he did it. If Bruce or…well, anyone from the Batfamily found out, they’d have a goddamn field day about how he was being just like Bruce. But, Jason took the kid back to his apartment with him.

He let the kid take his bed for the night while he just slept on the couch, trying to think of what the Hell he should do. The Red Hood taking in a Crime Alley kid? This was some sick irony the universe had plan.

When the next morning came Jason walked into his room where the kid was sleeping still, letting out a sigh. This was insane.

“Kid? C’mon, get up. I got breakfast.”
