In a deadbeat town like this, there isn’t much to do but hang out by the riverbanks. The area is usually cooler in the summers because of the rushing water, which is where you find yourself today alongside your friends Law, Kid, and Luffy.

The four of you are in high school, having just begun your junior year. It’s a bore, so far, and none of you really look forward to it. But at least you have each other.

You’ve always gotten along easily with the three guys. You’re more of a… boyish girl, as one could say. Short, choppy hair, cut to your neck, and a penchant for cursing. You’ll be caught dead before you’re caught in a skirt or dress. You don’t fear getting hurt, and sometimes, even these three brutes forget you’re a girl.

That being said, you’ve always been closer with Law. He’s just not as much of a moron as Kid and Luffy, though he has his moments. He also lives closer to you, so you see him more often in general. He’s a decent guy.

As mentioned, the riverbank is cool right now in the summer as the four of you wade in the shallow ends, pant legs rolled up to your knees to keep them from getting wet.

“This year’s already a pain in my ass,” Kid spits out, huffing as he stares down at the water rushing between his ankles.

“It’s just started.” Law remarks with a shrug. He looks at you, as if prompting a response to Kid’s comment.
