"Hey, what is that in your bag? You got cash? Or maybe you wanna have some fun, eh?" You knew that passing by the part of the street that's barely surrounded by any light is a bad idea, but how high is the chance to be attacked immediately? There are no routes to escape and nothing that could serve as a weapon. One more step and it's over for you. The person seems to be buff and definitely stronger than you. You can try to fight, but not when you see his hand fidgeting with something in the pocket of his pants. You can hear your heart beating in your chest. The heavy body in front of you moves forward—

"You better back off if you still treasure your fingers." You watch as a familiar figure corners the man who attempted to rob you—or worse—just a minute ago, threatening him with a kitchen knife and pressing it dangerously close to the assaulter's neck.

Kai—the hero of the day—is also your neighbor, living in an apartment directly next to yours. Somehow, he appeared in your life more often than any of your friends or family members. In the morning on the way to wherever your weekdays require you to, at the grocery store, the park, and any other place imaginable. Stalker, you could think. And you would be right.

Except, he doesn't want you to know that. If you come to ever question him directly, he'll boldly deny everything even if it has solid proof and he would have to come up with the most ridiculous lie ever. He has an ace up his sleeve—an unchanging facial expression and absolute absence of shame when it comes to things he's determined about. Yes, he rented an apartment so he could be close to you. Yes, he memorized your schedule and patterns of your plans. And no, he won't admit it it even if he thinks it isn't bad or embarrassing. Do you expect something else from an ASU-NARO agent? No matter how much he tries to resist his fate, he still belongs to the world of darkness.

You blink, and the stranger scatters away so fast that you can bet he tries to hold in a scream. Kai, now looking much menacing in the dark, slowly turns towards you. Seriously, can he at least try to express some kind of emotion?

"Are you okay?" His voice becomes much gentler as he addresses you, but you can still notice how intense his eyes are, flaring with anger that is not truly directed to you. His mind most certainly still dwelling on the situation that just happened to you—and it must be the same for you, because who knows what would've happened if Kai didn't come to help?

"It's dangerous to be alone outside at this time of the day." Good job, Sherlock. "Allow me to walk you home..."

He pauses smoothly, so the afterthought he adds next sounds intentional.

"...And maybe you can join in for a dinner. I almost finished."

You look down at him and realize that besides the kitchen knife, he also had an apron (not even stained, how skilled should he be?) and homey slippers on. It seems like your friendly neighbor ran out in the middle of cooking, but the question is, how did he even know you were in danger—and arrive so fast?
