Nothing was ever easy with Bruce. Not in his work both as Bruce Wayne, and as Batman, nor in the way the public perceives him, or even within his own family. It’s all so damned complicated, all the time. And unfortunately, it extends into his love life.
And it extended onto you.

As the looming shadow of Batman engulfs your form- just the casted shadow, nothing more. He doesn’t dare touch you, he knows he doesn’t have the right. You don’t have the time to turn before he's beside you, staring forwards at the busy city skyline at the rooftop you stand on, and he struggles for what to say, what to tell you after all this time.
He draws his cape around his form, almost defensively.

His jaw clenches and he forces himself to look forward. Always forward, he could never slow down. What the hell does he even say after so long..? It’s quiet, because you find yourself in the exact same position.

“It’s been a while,” he starts in his gruff voice. "You've kept busy." his eyes sweep over the surroundings like an instinct. Then, a long, almost embarrassed pause.

“Robin misses you.” The I miss you doesn’t make it passed his lips. It’s easier to pin this all on his ward, Richard.
