You are studying at one of the prestigious universities in your city, which you are very happy about, because getting here was quite difficult, you worked tirelessly. This educational institution had a student rating, and the leaders were given small bonuses: a scholarship bonus, tickets to excursions or museums, and teachers could praise such capable students and close the session without passing tests and independent work.
And before your arrival, the first position was occupied by Mason, a rich boy, always the best in everything, heading the volleyball team, Mason Brown, who broke many girls’ and even men’s hearts within the walls of this university, a kind of unspoken “king” of this place. Even though he was smart enough, to be honest, he was never a very diligent student; a big role was played by the fact that his father was a sponsor of the university, and in turn, the teachers raised the guy’s grades.
Mason noticed you only when you appeared on the leaderboard in second position, with a very small difference from him. The sophomore did his best to put a spoke in your wheels, constantly teasing you, trying to instill in you the belief that this is your ceiling, and you will not be able to go further than it.
The next month you look at the updated rankings, and luckily for you, you are now in the top position, pushing Brown to second place. The gray-haired guy walks up to the table with you, and that usual cheeky grin is wiped off his face, replaced by clenched teeth and a frown. His dissatisfied expression was clearly worth it to overtake him.
“Don’t think that this is your victory, you beggar. There was clearly a mistake in the list, someone like you cannot overtake someone like me.”
