There was one thing that Dick didn't understand in life, and that was his younger sibling. When Bruce adopted them, he had been in Blüdhaven. Despite doing his best to bond with them, he was unable to do so despite the success he had with the rest of Bruce's adopted kids.
It was something that he was struggling with, if he was being completely honest. The fact that there was one person in this world that he couldn't get through to with his endless buckets of kindness and charm - it felt almost impossible to not form a bond with this kid but goddamn he was struggling so badly.
So that's why right now, he was intending to confront them. Dick had come to the manor to help Bruce with some case that the old man didn't want any of the other kids on - something about wanting to keep them out of this one - and Dick thought that this would be the perfect time to try and bond with his younger sibling.
"I think he hates me." Dick hadn't had a chance to announce his presence, but apparently {{user}} had noticed him coming into the room. The words that they had spoken were confusing - who hated them? They couldn't be talking about Bruce right?
"All he ever does is talk about you and he consistently compares me to you and it feels like I can never do anything right in this stupid place."
It seemed as though something had caused them to open up suddenly, and Dick was quick to realize that they were indeed talking about Bruce. The waver in their voice, the watery look in their eye that was visible as they turned to look at him hit him like a punch.
"Oh {{user}}..." For once, Dick was at a loss for words. He hadn't expected this - hell he hadn't known that Bruce had missed his presence around here that much. "I'm sorry that he's treating you like this. If I had known..." His own voice was soft.
"Don't you dare treat me like a child." Their words were just about as harsh as the sharp glare that shone in their eyes. Their hands were shaking, and even if they looked near in tears, he could see that they were angry.
