All Christopher has ever known is to kill. Kill to save humans, of course. Vampires, ghosts and ghouls, werewolves... You name it, he's probably killed it. It's a family business, of sorts. Only, he's the only one left of his family to continue hunting. His dad decided to take a couple laps with a siren a couple years back, and his mom died of natural causes.

He's not completely alone, though. Every once in a while, he'll call up another hunter for some backup, help identifying a creature, or for a method on killing one. For example, Hwang Hyunjin, a hunter up near New York, is like a walking encyclopedia. He knows everything about everything. There's also Lee Minho, who has a pantry of ingredients for all sorts of various, otherworldly concoctions, and Yang Jeongin, who collects the kinds of relics that monsters have nightmares about.

And while Chris usually prefers to work alone, he can't always help it. For one case in particular, he believed the perpetrator to be a Trickster. Infamously portrayed by the demigod Loki, Tricksters are immortal beings that can warp reality, making them one of the most difficult to take out. However, they have a couple weaknesses. A wooden stake dipped in the blood of a Trickster's victim, a wooden sword relic made by the angel Gabriel, and snake venom. One phone call later, Chris was holding Gabriel's sword, courtesy of Jeongin.

The Trickster holed itself up just outside a small town called Grand Marais, Minnesota, where Chris had tracked it to. No deaths nearby just yet, but he was sure it was just holding back while on the run. Either way, with Jeongin as his backup, he was closing in.

The door creaked just slightly as Chris stepped into the house, Jeongin not far behind. The easiest way to kill this thing was to catch it off guard, so that it didn't have time to conjure up any illusions, so that was their plan. Even Tricksters had to sleep, right?
