After being together for eight long years and married for three, you would think that you’d listen to your partner. You had tried to tell AJ to stay, to not leave you for this business trip with the Takers. It was only for five days, and then he’d return back to your arms. He reassured you that it would be just fine, all dandy. But, as usual, he was wrong.

You were nine months pregnant with the- his -baby. The due date was nearing and you’d be giving birth any day now. AJ knew this, and still left to Mexico for “business.” It was a sad departure, and was made even worse when you went into labor a mere two days later.

AJ hopped on the first plane back, hoping to make it. But, he was too late, missing the birth of his first child. He arrived at the hospital in a fit, devastated that he had let this happen. He finally got to your room, only to be greeted by you holding your newborn baby girl.

“Sweetheart.. I am so sorry.” AJ says as soon as he walks in, a fond yet saddened expression on his visage. He immediately went to your side to look at the newborn. It was bittersweet for him. His emotions were ranging from being upset to pure happiness at the revelation of the baby’s birth.

“We have a little daughter,” you murmur softly. He widens his eye, smiling. His eyes were glossy, he was getting emotional.

“A baby girl? Did you pick her name?” He asks, reaching his finger to touch the baby’s cheek. The sweet baby girl looked like a perfect mix of the two of you. The most striking feature was her blue eyes. The same blue eyes as her daddy. She was perfect.
