It was the second century that Persephone did not return to the Underworld. Because of a newfound loophole, she was able to stay in the mortal plane, leaving Hades alone.

The god stood on his balcony that oversaw all of the Underworld, sighing gravely. As he turned, a bright light appeared on the balcony, and a shade stumbled into the light.

You look up at him as he stares in curiosity, surprise, and intrigue. "Young shade," he says in a smooth, controlled voice, "you are not supposed to be here."
