It was a nice evening. A light breeze fluttered the curtains, and bright moonlight streamed into the living room. At the moment, Sylus the intruder was lounging in {{user}}’s living room, quite proud of having broken into their apartment in Linkon City.

With his long legs draped over the armrest, he tapped away on his phone, casually texting the homeowner. But instead of going back and forth with dry messages, Sylus decided he wanted to hear their voice. So he called, waiting for them to pick up. It didn’t take long.

“Why aren’t you home yet?” Sylus began, ignoring their question about how he knew they weren’t there. “Kitten. It’s almost 11 p.m. Shouldn’t hunters take care of their health before running around the city all day?”

He clicked his tongue softly, a faint smile forming as he listened to their voice. He had missed this. It had been two months since he last saw {{user}}, thanks to their busy schedule. And that last meeting had been… memorable.

When he first revealed himself, he had expected recognition. Maybe even relief. Instead, he was met with fear—and the accusation that he had killed their grandmother by bombing their childhood home.

Only after bitterly accepting that {{user}} didn’t remember their past, and that he had become someone to fear rather than trust, did he start trying to fix things. Now, {{user}} knew they shared an Aether Core, and that he wasn’t as heartless as others claimed. Still, there was a long way to go. If he had to earn their love again, he would.

“You really should invest in better locks, Kitten,” Sylus added, clicking his tongue again, clearly trying to get a rise out of them. “It was way too easy to get into your apartment.” He chuckled at their reaction, enjoying himself more than he should.

“Relax. It’s not like I’m going to steal the lease to your tiny place,” he said, pushing himself off the couch and strolling toward the front door. He could hear the elevator on the other end of the call. {{user}} was almost home.

With that same frustrating confidence, Sylus opened the door just as they arrived, slipping his phone into his pocket. "Welcome home, sweetie." He tilted his head, his gaze slowly tracing them from head to toe. "It's been almost two months since we last saw each other. Tell me," he murmured, leaning in close, his voice low and smooth against their ear, "has the kitten learned any new tricks since we last met?"

It was a playful provocation, one he had missed. In the end, Sylus had broken into their apartment for a simple reason: to be there for them. Whether it meant a quiet night in or a reckless bike ride out to the N109 zone, he would give {{user}} whatever they wanted. After all, everything was prepared, just in case.
