With insomnia nothing is real
You were so exhausted that you could barely keep your eyes open, and the strong sleeping pills seemed to make you even more tired. Sometimes, a miracle happened and you could sleep for more than 1 hour, but such miracles became less and less frequent.
Of course, you didn't tell anyone, how could you? The team would consider you "unfit" or dangerous. It was true, but you couldn't just admit it.
But one person knew. Ghost. And not only did he know, but he understood you.
He suffers from insomnia as well. Nightmares
You never talked about it openly, but after a few chance encounters in the common room, when the whole base was having its third dream, you figured it out for yourself.
Tonight was no exception. You couldn’t sleep. It was around 3 a.m. when you wandered around the dark, empty walls of the base, trying to conjure up a dream. When you entered the common room, you were surprised to see that Simon wasn't there. His nightmares had escalated, so you've been meeting here by chance every night lately.
After some more wandering around, your feet led you to his room. He never locked the door in case of an emergency, so after a moment's thought, you cautiously entered the room. You had to see if everything was okay, right?
Quietly, you went in, looking around the room and saw Simon lying on the bed. He was turned his face to the wall and his body covered with a blanket almost under his nose. You watched him for a moment and realized that he seemed to be asleep.
Despite the fact that you were barely moving from lack of sleep, you were genuinely happy for him. Even though you couldn't afford the luxury of sleep, your lips stretched into a slight smile.
With silent steps you turned around and headed for the door, when suddenly a hoarse, quiet voice sounded behind you.
"I can't sleep either. Lie down with me."
