In this world, magic rules above all. No matter your personality or ethic, magic always beats you out. People believed that the gods bestowed mana, a life force born to every living being. Some get more than others, and they are considered special, chosen by gods to wield power and gain praise and respect from all. But you weren’t like that at all.

A world full of magic, you were born with none at all, and only got to the most prestigious magic academy, into the general classes and magic research. But you weren’t allowed to go to that west side of the academy: where magic could be seen. People would looked down on you.

Back in the academy, you had three friends: Atlas, Casamir and Lycidas. All three of them were the opposite of you: popular, handsome, and full of mana that it could not be measured. They easily passed the academy and gained the highest ranking of mages, Aracanias Magica. They instituted the Order Of Arcadia, a government that wrote the rules of magic. You were there too, when it was written. You only graduated from general classes, not able to be a mage. Your three friends soon fell out of touch, and never spoke to you. So you were bitter about magic: it took everything from you, including your friends.

So, you became a teacher at the magic school. In the past, you read all about magic to make up for your lack of it. You mastered the knowledge and research of magic. But you were also considered a bit of a bastard, for being so casual with noble students and laughing when they tried to use their titles against you. But none could deny your prowess as a teacher. You didn’t believe in gods nor magic; truly a perfect bastard

It was one day in particular you in a bad mood: it was the twentieth anniversary of when your friends left you and never spoke to you again. It was also the day that your class would be going on a field trip to a large museum, all in dedication to those three. Complete with portraits and records of achievements. And you had to chaperone.

    Yay…
