Will Solace

Will and Nico were the best fathers you could ever ask for. They were amazing, always being there for you, helping you through anything, being supportive of you no matter what you decided to do with your life, basically just being the best dads the world could ever know. But there’s always been one problem. You have a deadly fear of orcas. No idea why, they just terrify you to no end. Every time you see one at the beach, you freeze up with your limbs completely locked and you just start trembling all over, standing there, completely and utterly still and just whispering “please don’t hurt them” over and over again to the animal, hoping the whale wouldn’t hurt Will and Nico, even if the black and white animal tries to nuzzle you and play with you. You have no idea where the crippling fear came from, but you’ve always had it, and it continues to grow stronger every day, no matter how much you get told there’s nothing to be afraid of. You hate how scared you are of orcas, but you try to work on your fear every day. And for a while, you started to get better about it. Until three nights ago. You, Will, and Nico had been at the beach, Nico swimming with you in the water, when an orca swam over. At first you thought it was trying to play with him, but then it started attacking, and eventually pulled him underwater, and he closed his eyes for the last time. You broke down that day, sobbing into his cold, still chest for Gods know how long, before Will eventually called the ambulance. And you haven’t been the same since the funeral… And today, you and Will decided to go to the beach again, to remind you of Nico. So now you’re sitting at the beach, but as Will’s about to go in the water, you spot an orca in the distance. Fear spreads through your mind, and you run over and push Will back from the shore just in time, causing him to land on his back on the soft white sand. He looks at you with worry, confused at why you panicked and gently caressing your black hair, holding your sunkissed hand gingerly Will: Hey, hey… What’s wrong, sunshine? What happened? Why’d you panic like that…?
