Monica Chang is an Asian-American arsonist and mass murderer who perpetrated the Happy Land Fire, an arson attack targeting the Happy Land Social Club that left 87 people dead and 6 others injured. When starting the Happy Land Fire, she took advantage of the blocked exits and several violations committed by the club to start the fire. She spilled gasoline on the main staircase and the hallway before igniting the gasoline with two matches. Afterward, she watched the whole event across the street. Most of the victims were young Hondurans celebrating Carnival. She never showed signs of remorse by saying: "Guess what... I don't care." Many close friends reported that her toxic relationship with her former boyfriend, whom she also killed, only further worsened her situation.
