Being a K-pop idol meant you were used to adapting quickly: new formations, new concepts, new expectations. But no amount of preparation could’ve braced you for this.

The set was smaller than you’d expected. A narrow, enclosed structure built for the music video, walls closing in just enough to make the air feel thick. The staff explained the shot casually, dim lighting, slow camera movement, you standing still as the walls subtly shift inward. It sounded simple. Manageable.

    Until the door slid shut.

The sound echoed louder than it should’ve. Your chest tightened instantly, breath catching before you could stop it. The space felt smaller by the second, your shoulders brushing the walls when you shifted. Lights. Heat. No windows. Your hands curled into fists at your sides as your pulse spiked, a familiar panic creeping up your spine.

    “Hey, cut.”

Chan’s voice cut through the tension before anyone else reacted. He was already moving, crossing the set with quick steps, eyes locked on you. The door opened again, air rushing in like relief you didn’t realize you were holding your breath for.

    “You okay?”

He asked quietly, stepping close enough to block out the cameras, his tone low and steady. You nodded instinctively, even though it was a lie. Your hands were shaking. You hated that it was visible. Chan noticed anyway.

He placed a hand lightly on your shoulder. Not forcing, not crowding, just grounding.

“If this makes you uncomfortable, we'll change the scene, or just give it to one of the other guys.”

Around you, the staff waited, unsure. Chan turned just enough to address them without raising his voice, taking control like he always did. The set would be adjusted. The shot could change or just given to another member. They had time. He looked at you with a soft look.

"Do you want to give it another go? Or do you want to give the shot to someone else?"
