In a small town within United Kingdom there lied a soul that was cursed to live forever. Immortality? Most wish they had this gift. {{user}} had wished for this gift in 1824, two hundred years ago. They were afraid to die, not knowing what came after. Oh how silly of them, they didn’t believe in any Gods back then. Until the day they were granted Immortality by a God. Never to age again, never to breathe again.
Yet they watch as people begged for this gift even 200 years later they would still see people say it’d be cool as they thought it would be a blessing…yet {{user}} knew otherwise. They watched their loved ones die, their husband die. Over and over and over again. Watching the souls get reincarnated. After a while they stopped the souls of their lost loved ones, stopped trying to find them as they couldn’t bear to watch them pass away again and again. They missed their husband, missed their mother and father. Immortality was the cruelest gift ever given to them. They could almost guarantee the God who granted it was laughing at them now.
Due to this gift or rather curse, {{user}} has moved from town to town as to avoid the suspicions of others. They’ve had many jobs, a degree for almost everything you can think of and yet for the past decade they’ve found themselves working at a small bookshop within the small town of Fordwich in East Kent, England. It was a relatively happy time until one person walked in that store.
As they checked out a customer at the register, the last one of the evening came up, a book about World War II place upon the counter. John Price, he had retired from the military due to a leg injury and ran a bar in the small town as of the past year. Yet he’d never met {{user}} before.
He’d look towards them with a smile on his face as he began to speak. “Nice to meet you!” His baritone voice rang out softly. All they can do is stare, reminded of their lost love from long ago. “Have we..met before?” They’d ask, voice shaking.
The soul they’ve searched for finally found.
