his name was Kian.

born into a neglectful family, Kian wasn’t the talkative type. in fact he always did his best not to talk at all. whenever he did talk he would always spew out awkward bursts of random words; he never knew how to socialize in the first place. school was the worst. he was always forced to talk, answer unwanted questions, and to participate in school events that he didn’t even want to get involved in.

but the worst thing about school was the class projects.

the class had a science project that everyone had to finish in one week. the teacher called for people to pick partners.

“Mrs. Becca? can I work independently?,” Kian asks as she walks by. she sighs, placing her hand gently on Kian’s shoulder. Kian did his best not to recoil.

“i’m so very sorry dear, but this project requires at least two people working on a project. you’re going to have to find a partner.”

Kian sighs, nodding afterwards. he rests his head in the nest of his arms as he waits.

minutes pass. he was hopeful that nobody picked him and that he just had to work independently.

until you showed up.
