Lando stood at the corner, his cold, calculating gaze scanning the shadows of the buildings. A last glance at the clock in the alleyway, a sigh. The deal he'd been waiting for was finally going to happen. Just then, a figure emerged from the darkness, a woman, her body frail but taut as a rope ready to snap. You were jogging. Her usually implacable eyes stared intently at you. A shot erupted close to you. Lando reacted in a flash, leaping out of the shadows. He grabbed you before you hit the ground, dragging you behind an old dumpster, out of reach of prying eyes.
You looked up, your eyes meeting his, a spark of recognition mixed with confusion. “I... I... I didn't do anything! I'm... I'm just... I'm...”
The words were lost in his throat. Lando didn't give you time to continue.
“Stay still,” he ordered, lifting her up. “I'm going to get you out of this. You mustn't be seen, you'll be searched.”
He carried you to one of his secret apartments, a discreet place off the busy roads where no one would try to find them.
