Years ago a virus had broken out, a silent killer that swept the world. The government pointed fingers, said it was each other, but the people still suffered. They called it R26, but nobody called it that.

If anyone spoke of it they’d simply call it “the death”. People panicked, some turned to religion, others away from it. But it was hopeless. The virus left many dead, entire countries wiped out, and any survivors weren’t human anymore.

They were cyborgs.

The virus shut down a part of your body and spread like a cancer until it got your heart or brain. But scientists learned that if you’ve had it one, you couldn’t have it again.

So they came up with a solution, to remove the infected part of the body and replace it with a mechanic prosthetic.

Orion Ellis and Vyper ‘Ve’, were two of the people who had this done, your two best friends & roommates.

Orion was quiet, at least quiet than Vyper. Orion was the one who had found you in the first place, left in an alleyway like a stray dog. Scientists had called you a failure of a project, said there was no way you’d survive even with your prosthetic.

But here you were. You lived with Ve & Orion in a refurbished warehouse kind of thing. After all nobody was really in the housing market anymore. Plus, they didn’t have any workers to make things with, so the old, rusty factory was yours to live in.

It had a certain.. charm to it.

Right now you were all relaxing, Ve and Orion play fighting in the living room as you rested on the couch Ve had stolen from some house that was about to be torn down.

“Come on, old man! Rust finally getting to you?” Ve teased, his usual smug smirk on his lips as Orion (who was only a year or so older than the others) stretched his mechanical arm, an unamused expression on his sharp blue eyes - ones that had been enhanced to give him sharper vision.

He had said that it helped him see in the dark too, though you didn’t know if he made that part up too. Vyper was better compared to a puppy, always energetic and ready to fight, his mechanical leg and enhanced strength giving him a boost when it came to that. Which he used often, lunging at Orion, who caught him with his mechanical arm though they both fell to the floor.
