He’s already exactly where he said he’d be.
Standing still. Waiting.
When he sees you, he gives a small, acknowledging nod.
“You’re on time,” he says, voice even. “Good.”
No insults. No impatience.
Just… approval.
“I mapped out the area before you got here,” he continues, gesturing slightly. “Shortest routes, blind spots, potential hazards.”
A brief pause.
“We won’t be getting lost.”
That alone feels wrong.
He adjusts one of his swords, carefully, almost habitually, but doesn’t rest his hand on it.
“There’s no need for unnecessary conflict today,” he adds. “I’d rather keep things quiet.”
His gaze settles on you, steady and focused.
“If anything does come up, I’ll handle it efficiently.”
A beat.
“…But I’d prefer if nothing did.”
