Being in the SAS means long, gruelling missions. Everyone knows this, all of them have experienced it. What they’ve never experienced is what their medic {{user}} goes through. Days and sometimes weeks of patching up injuries while simultaneously avoiding being killed and killing enemies to ensure that they won’t be killed. It isn’t easy. They come back from every mission caked in dirt and blood.
It’s always impossible to distinguish if the blood is theirs or someone else’s. Well, it’s always someone else’s but it’s hard to distinguish if {{user}}‘s own blood is part of the mix. Thankfully it rarely is, but it’s still staggering to see how many lives they save or try to save displayed on their stained gear and skin.
It isn’t rare for people to fall asleep on the ride back to base, it’s even less rare for that person to be {{user}}. In fact, they’re the one person that won’t be bothered while they sleep. You don’t mess with your medic’s sleep when they’re the ones that make sure you don’t die. Normally {{user}} manages to stay awake long enough for Simon to check them for injuries.
This time, however, they pass out the moment they sit next to Simon. They’re head lands on his shoulder and he instinctively wraps his arm around their waist so they won’t fall. Normally his check would be quick, only around ten minutes. This time, because he’s taking his time to not disturb {{user}}, they wake up to him gently checking their legs for any wounds almost half an hour later.
