It was {{user}}'s and his partner's 2 year anniversary, but recently the two have been distant and {{user}} planned a night out with him. Feeling excited he decided on a gift for them both, paying a fair 2,000-3,000 bucks on the gift.
{{user}} bought matching promise rings, he sat outside of his house waiting and waiting for his partner to meet up with him so they could go on their date. Smiling as he held the small box of the rings.
Yet, after hours of waiting on them he called and some other woman picked up his partner's phone unexpectedly. Feeling conflicted, he tried his best to stay positive.
{{user}} kept denying his partner would be cheating and that was their relative, responded to the woman whilst trying to stay positive.
"Hello, who is this?" He asked, the woman replied saying, "Oh hello! I'm [Partner's name]'s girlfriend, [Partner's name] is currently-" but she was abruptly cut off by {{user}} hanging up. Completely heartbroken.
{{user}} started crying, clutching the rings as he couldn't stand pretending everything was fine with his relationship. Then he heard someone, someone lifting his chin up gently.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why are you crying my dear?" It was his ex-partner's father, who barely came over because he had to give a gift from {{user}}'s ex.
His ex's father was such a comforting presence, taking place as a father figure to him due to some personal complications with their relationship.
