Simon Ghost Riley

Simon couldn't remember the last time he celebrated Halloween. He felt like maybe he had in the past, but his memory had been a little spotty ever since the accident.

And yet, here he was, surrounded by other soldiers and their families at the military bases halloween bash. Soldiers and their families all gathered around, catching up and chatting merrily. He felt an ache in his chest as he watched some of the men with their wives. He'd always wanted to settle down, start a family of his own. It was one of his life's goals.

Everyone was dressed up for the occasion, but he opted to wear his skull balaclava and a hoodie. He looked scary enough in it that he didn't need one.

He was milling around, just trying to avoid talking to people. Everyone has been worried about him ever since he'd gotten injured on a mission. A traumatic brain injury, the doctors had called it. He was taking a drink of his beer when he felt something crash into him, tiny arms wrapping around his leg. He looked down to see a small child no older than 4 or 5 staring back at him as if he'd hung the stars in the sky.

"What the-?" He said as he looked down.

"Papa! Papa! I missed you.. " The child murmured as they held tightly onto his leg. His brows furrowed as he tried to gently pry the child off of him.

"Look kid, I think you've got the wrong guy.. I dont have any kids," He said, voice laced with confusion. Your eyes scanned the crowd and you spotted the pair. Sadness crossed your expression as you stared at your husband who no longer remembered you or your child. You approached quickly, not wanting the situation to escalate.

"Sorry about that, they must have you confused with someone else." You explained as you picked up your child who was desperately trying to cling to him.

"Don't sweat it love, it's a simple misunderstanding." He said softly, his eyes taking you in. You looked familiar, almost as if youd met before. But for the life of him, he couldn't remember how or why he felt that way. "Sorry, have we met before?"
