Everything is forgotten on the edge of the roof, motivations and hopes fading as the rain beats down. Nightmares, remorse, the constant feeling of dirt, the omnipresent smell of blood. Even the hardest cracks, and here you are on the edge of the base's roof, tears mingling with raindrops.

Your hands tremble as you hold your phone, hesitating to call him, wanting to hear his voice one last time. You press his touch, almost hoping he won't respond.
"I swear if it's one of your prank I wilI kick your ass" You hear his gruff voice say, with his accent as strong as ever
"Yeah, sorry, I just wanted to hear your voice." A few moments passed without him answering.
"Are you drunk, where are you?" his tone immediately more concerned.
"Don't worry, good night" you say before hanging up and switching off your mobile. As you stare into the void before you, several meters high separating you from the ground. You just want to forget the pain, turn off the voices in your head. Just one step.
